Tea Sets and Tea Cups
I don’t have a large selection of tea sets as I am not one of those tea fans that collect teapots form anywhere and everywhere. However, I do have a very good selection of different tea sets for different teas and occasions.
Russian Samovar Tea Set
This Russian Samovar is relatively new and was a 50th birthday present from Paul (celebrated in Liverpool). It did come directly from a Russian stockist with a Russian plug attached of course!
It has been adapted so that it can be used in the UK but to be honest you need a few people around to make it worthwhile. Needless to say with the size of it this is not going to be living on Dreamcatcha.
Tetsubin Cast Iron Teapot (Japanese Tea Set)
This Japanese tea set in blue came with two cups and was a present a number of years ago. It is perfect for the narrowboat as it can sit on the log burner. It is ideal for for green tea or Matcha. The great thing with cast iron tea sets is that they keep tea warm for a very long time. However, as I drink a lot of it and quickly lost on me.
Fortnum and Mason Stripe Tea Set
The Fortnum and Mason Stripe Teapot with matching cups and sauces is probably my favourite to use. I was very fortunate to receive this as part of a luxury hamper as an unexpected gift. It is perfect for any loose tea. As you can see here I have my own blend of F&M tea (Lisa’s Blend) that I made up on a trip to the store in London for my 51st birthday in 2021.
Moroccan Tea Set
This handmade Moroccan tea set was another challenge given to Paul. It was for another present to be added to my collection. A traditional tea set usually used for Mint tea. Looks wonderful but I have yet to use it. Not one for the narrowboat but one I must use this year. Fresh mint leave brewing and served in these stunning glasses. All the way from Morocco courtesy of eBay 🙂
Flowering Teapot
This glass teapot is ideal for flowering teas. The tea strainer is removable and you watch the flowering tea open up and literally flower in front of your eyes. It is generally used as a normal teapot though due to the strainer.
The cup is not matching as you can tell, but was a present from my son as a normal mug is just wrong!
Spinning Ceramic Portable Travel Tea Set
This tea set was another Christmas gift from Paul and will be perfect for the narrowboat. Not that we are on the high seas of course and no, the Ribble Crossing on a windy day does not count :). I haven’t tried it yet but it is very pretty and comes with its own travel case.
Chinese Cup, Tea Strainer and Indian Tea Bag Plate
- I brought this Chinese tea cup back from my trip to China. I went on a Charity Trek to raise money for Derian House Children’s Hospice a few years back. manged to visit a tea ceremony whilst there at the end of the trek and packed my rucksack with some wonderful teas and this cup.
- The long handled tea strainer is a silver-plated Fortnum and Mason one that came in the same hamper with the teapot and cups above.
- The tea bag plate was a small souvenir from a holiday to India that Paul and I went on a few years back.
